Gallery program
Founded in September 2024, ABRI MARS is a contemporary art gallery focused on the practice of an observational pace, discovering intimate and emotional resonance in emerging art. Based in the culturally diverse neighborhood of the Lower East Side in Manhattan, ABRI MARS fosters a program of influential emerging artists from international backgrounds who communicate deeply personal stories and experiences with discerning manner and sensibility, most of whom have seldom, or not yet been exhibited in New York.
March Refuge
ABRI MARS was conceived following a tragic fire that consumed the building where the founder and other artists, creatives, and art dealers lived. The loss ignited an urge to put something essential back into the world, turning to the arts as a consistent source of salience. ABRI MARS (meaning “March Refuge” in French) is an homage to the founder’s Belgian grandmother, mother, aunt, and uncle, who were influential in exposing him to the art world from a young age, and who were all born during the month of March.
